Merdeka Square – a 360 view

(Last Updated On: January 14, 2020)

Formerly known as Selangor Club Padang, this ground was used as a cricket field during the #British colonial period. This was the place where Union Flag was lowered and Malaysian flag hoisted for the first time on 31 August 1957. Surrounded by many historical buildings, this place is used as an annual #Merdeka Parade (National Day Parade) since independence. One of the significant #Malaysian landmark, Sultan Abdul Samad Building is in front of this square. In 1989, A 95-metre flagpole was erected which is one of the tallest in the world. These pictures were clicked on 72nd independence day of Malaysia, this square not only attracted the local Malaysians to visit and pay homage to the freedom thinkers and founding figures of the nation but many tourists came to visit this historical place as well. #SelamatHariMerdeka Happy Independence day to all Malaysian friends!!!
